From working in the Trade department to becoming the Marketing Manager. Here’s my journey here at

Will - Marketing

After attending D’Hautree in its final years (now Haute Vallee) I went onto study Art at Highlands. Finishing with a merit I went onto study Fine Art Painting at University of Gloucestershire. Early 20’s were spent in conventional retail and retail banking. My first exposure to digital was starting at a local Jersey ecommerce business managing their customer services. After a couple of years crossing into site content and general improvements I knew I liked working in Ecommerce - The dynamism of digital, the always changing landscape was really very compelling.

My next position was as marketing exec at another of Jersey’s digital success stories. In my time at; I developed a strong understanding of digital marketing strategy, channels, creative process and tools. Growing partnerships; we innovated into ‘influencer marketing’ before the term had been coined. We worked to develop customer focused, relevant email campaigns based around buying patterns, demographics, events and seasonality.

I then moved to agency work (assuming from my experience with service providers that I would a good fit). Alas, our expectations weren’t entirely aligned and after short time I was looking for another challenge.

As Onogo’s Marketing Manager I’m responsible for driving our image, communication and marketing activities

I joined onogo as a ‘ecommerce officer’ in the trade team responsible for sourcing products & setting up offers for voucher sites. I learned of an opening for a Marketing Manager and decided to apply. A short, successful probationary period followed and I was offered the permanent role.

As Onogo’s Marketing Manager I’m responsible for driving our image, communication and marketing activities. The overall mission of the Marketing Manager is to continuously develop our marketing efforts online, locally and globally handling various aspects of Onogos daily marketing needs.

The website is large part of my role, ensuring UK & international sites: their structure and design, product pages, customer journeys, processes and integrations reflect our brand & positioning.

Internal marketing to colleagues; promoting our core values is important too. The launch of our Amazon Partnerships programme lets me apply my knowledge of digital marketing to Amazon’s tools and in turn share these opportunities with my colleagues and our partners.

Working at onogo has allowed me to grow my understanding of marketing further. An adaptable outlook, being flexible to new challenges and an appetite for learning have all been beneficial. The team here is a great mix of skills and experience from across all different sectors that collaborate to achieve and improve together.
